Travis Kelce is speaking out about his NFL stats so far this season.
The 34-year-old star tight end has had a down season compared to previous years.
“We’re finding ways to win games, but we’re not playing our best football. Everybody can clean it up. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter with that crucial third down,” Travis said during the latest episode of his podcast, “New Heights.”
“I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter — the crucial third down — just trying to do too much before putting the ball away. That’s probably the biggest thing for me — making the play in big time moments like that,” he shared.
“I think with how defenses are playing us right now, I’m not really getting a lot of opportunities to make plays down the field, but not using that as an excuse. Moving forward, [I’m] still trying to make sure that I can help the team out in that regard,” he said.
If you don’t know, when opposing teams play the Chiefs, they often account for how great Travis is. To account for this, opposing defenses will often use 2 defensive playmakers to cover him so that Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback, can’t throw him the ball without risking an interception.
The Chiefs play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
“Whatever it is, it’s football baby! Come on now, I’m not getting caught up in getting the targets and all that. I just wanna have a successful offense, and I think Pat’s doing a great job of finding the open guy and making the right decisions right now,” he added.
The Chiefs were trending online after their last win and we’re explaining why some NFL fans were not happy.
