This season, the Kansas City Chiefs are doing what they’ve been doing for years. They sit with a 14-1 record, already have the AFC West title clinched and currently hold the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
However, one different aspect of the team has been the production of tight end Travis Kelce, who’s accumulated 89 receptions, 739 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024.

“I believe he can go AT LEAST another 2 years. We’re talking his stats being down… How are your stats down if you have 80 plus catches at 35 years old??”@heykayadams @tkelce @Chiefs | #ChiefsKingdom pic.twitter.com/FJLnGptHby

His performance on the field has sparked many conversations about his potential retirement, and former NFL TE Rob Gronkowski shared his opinion on the matter on the “Up & Adams” show. “I believe he can go at least another 2 years,” he said.
“We’re talking his stats being down… How are your stats down if you have 80 plus catches at 35 years old?” Of course, though, Gronkowski questions how Kelce’s stats are “down,” but it’s hard to argue otherwise.
Other than his rookie year in 2023, he is on pace to have career worsts in yards per reception (8.3), yards per game (49.3), and yards per target (6.1) all while having only 2 receiving touchdowns.
It’s not surprising, though, because at 35 years old, it’s rare for someone to stay as consistent as Kelce has always been. If he did retire at the end of the season, the combination of his 996 receptions, 12,067 yards, 76 touchdowns, 9 Pro Bowls, 4 All-Pros and 3 Super Bowl wins would be more than enough for a Hall of Fame selection.
