Over the weekend, Taylor Swift wrapped up the first leg of her six-show tour in Toronto, Canada, drawing large crowds to the Rogers Centre to witness the Eras Tour.
Unfortunately, after learning they were defrauded of $15,600 USD, a Canadian family’s fantasy of seeing Swift play has become a nightmare.
In anticipation of Swift’s November 23 performance in Toronto, Ottawa resident Mel Keogh purchased 28 tickets for a group of family members.
She claims to have previously utilized an independent ticket broker, but regrettably, it proved to be a fraud for her and her Swiftie relatives.
“To break it to the girls that we weren’t going – was horrendous,” Keogh told CTV News Ottawa.
She went on to say, “(It’s) all we’ve been talking about for over a year,” adding that her 15-year-old daughter Jordan was distraught after creating bracelets and picking out costumes for the performance.
“They were absolutely ecstatic. My daughter, I can speak to her specifically, knows every Taylor Swift song, every word, every album, every era, everything.”
Keogh, her family, and four neighbors purchased tickets for $561.89 USD each.
While her neighbors lost about $2,139 USD (3,000 Canadian dollars), Keogh regrettably lost $15,687 USD ($22,000 Canadian).
The gang had even made reservations for hotels and limousines for the once-in-a-lifetime event.
Mel’s sister-in-law According to Patricia Keogh, the website had been used previously, and since they were emailed confirmation codes and seat numbers, everything appeared to be authentic during the purchase procedure.
“It’s all gone, it’s all gone,” Patricia told CTV News. “(It is) really upsetting that we let our family down. How could we have not seen this? How did we get duped? We’re smart people.”
