Along with other famous mothers, Donna Kelce appears on Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year front cover. Glamour said on October 3 that for this year’s Women of the Year, they are honoring the mothers of several celebrities. Examining “motherhood, stardom, ambition, and what’s next,” Kelce was featured alongside Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, Billie Elish’s mother Maggie Baird, and Selena Gomez’s mother Mandy Teefey.
Speaking to Glamour’s Samantha Barry, Kelce talked about how motherhood has changed due to the success of her NFL sons, Travis and Jason Kelce. ‘Being a mom is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,’ Kelce shared. It’s so much easier to just go to work, but raising children, when they’re totally dependent on you and you’re trying to do the best you can with the limited resources that you have, it’s the most daunting task I’ve ever had to do.’
‘You don’t understand how your children relate to other children across the country,’ Kelce shared when asked about her expectations for raising her sons changing over time. ‘You know what they’re doing in your particular part of the world, but until they start getting involved in tournaments or people outside of your city, then you understand that they’re different, and you just try as a parent, I think, to support your child in whatever they love to do and just revel in it really.’
Posing for the cover, Kelce smiled as she stood between Knowles and Baird, while Teefy sat on a chair before them. In her introduction, Kelce said: ‘I am Donna Kelce. I’m the mother of two football players, Jason and Travis, who are unashamedly themselves. Kelce brought two top-class athletes to the world, with Travis and Jason combining for 16 Pro Bowl selections and four Super Bowl titles.
While Donna has long been present for her sons’ prolific careers, her prominence rose greatly with Travis’ romance with Taylor Swift taking the world by storm over the past year. Kelce will launch her film acting on Hallmark’s Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, with the focus on her family shining its best.
‘We can’t go anywhere, really,’ Kelce remarked of her newly acquired celebrity. You have to rent out the movie theater or the restaurant or whatever if we are going to do something. Every now and then I do sneak away, and we visit locations nobody knows where they are.’
Apart from the amazing collection of mothers, Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year also paid tribute to Olympic athletes Suni Lee and Allyson Felix, actress Sydney Sweeney and Taraji P. Henderson, abortion campaigners Hadley Duvall and Kaitlyn Joshua, tennis great Serena Williams and actress Pamela Anderson.
