Prayers are Pouring in for the Mahomes Family After Devastating Loss

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is mourning a loss this week. It was announced on Friday that one of his family members passed away.

Prior to Super Bowl 59, Randi Mahomes revealed that her father was in hospice care and not doing very well. Since the focus was on the Chiefs-Eagles game, Mahomes didn’t comment on his grandfather’s status. Obviously though, the family was thinking of him leading up to the big game.

On Friday afternoon, Mahomes’ mother announced that her father, Randy Martin, has died.

Mahomes’ grandfather entered the hospital back in September for an undisclosed reason. Just before the Chiefs took the field for the AFC Championship in January, it was revealed that his grandfather was moved to hospice care.

Randi Mahomes said her father was “hanging on” last week so he can watch Patrick in the Super Bowl.

“I know that it has meant a lot to him. And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play. I mean, he must be such a proud grandpa, so proud.”
