Terry Bradshaw tried to inject some humor on FOX NFL Sunday, with a Taylor Swift-related joke that left his co-hosts in disbelief. Curt Menefee began by introducing the panel, which included Bradshaw and Michael Strahan, as he dubbed them the “stars of stage, screen and everything else.”
This is when Bradshaw attempted to make a joke based on Swift’s record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’, as he claimed he could go on a tour that was a similar size to the American popstar’s.
This joke fell flat on its face, however, as the 76-year-old’s colleagues were left less than impressed by his humor.
“I’m taking the Terry Bradshaw show on the road, it’s going to be called ‘The Erase Tour’ – like Taylor Swift,” he said. However, Strahan was quick with a comeback, suggesting people would prefer to forget Bradshaw’s hypothetical tour entirely.
He said: “Yeah well hers is ‘Eras,’ yours is erase. Just if somebody sees it and they want to erase it from their memory.” To this, Bradshaw replied: “Hey now, be nice, be nice.”
Menefee swiftly tried to steer the conversation back to football, expressing his own desires to wipe the previous segment from memory.
Following his remark, the team refocused on the day’s games, including the Kansas City Chiefs against the Cleveland Browns.
While analyzing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Bradshaw seemed to contradict himself regarding their knack for clinching narrow victories. The ex-Pittsburgh Steelers star said: “There’s nothing wrong with winning games close. In this league, anybody can beat you. One thing about Kansas City is they just know how to win.”
Shortly after, Bradshaw voiced his concern over the number of hits Mahomes has taken this season. He said: “The one thing that worries me is that Patrick Mahomes has been hit more than any QB on 3rd down. Their points per game is down a whole touchdown, seven points.
They can win, they know how to win, I don’t have a problem at all with them winning close football games.”
For context, Mahomes ranks just behind Joe Burrow in terms of being hit in the pocket this season, having been sacked 35 times.
Despite the alarming pattern of failing to shield Mahomes, the Chiefs are still seen as strong contenders for Super Bowl LIX. Intriguingly, they are the sole team with a winning record yet to score 30 points or more in any game this season.
