The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 10-1 on the season with a 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon thanks to a game-winning field goal as time expired. While the win is nice, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes would like a bit more breathing room moving forward.
He likes winning, which the team accomplished today, but he’d also like to do it before the final play of the game. “You want to have some blowouts,” Mahomes said after the game.
“You want be a little calmer in the fourth quarter. I’ve always said it can be a good thing as you get to the playoffs and later in the season, just knowing that you’ve been in those moments before and knowing how to kind of attack it. But I would love to win a game [before] the very last play.”
Mahomes finished the game 27-of-37 passing for 269 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also added 60 yards on the ground – his most in a game this season.
Following the game he took to his Instagram Story to share a few highlights from the contest. One of the posts he shared was from star tight end Travis Kelce, who finished the game with six receptions for 62 yards – while moving up the all-time receiving list for tight ends.
Kelce posted a series of photos, including one of he and Mahomes running out of the tunnel onto the field together before the game.
Kelce’s post shared the caption, “Double digit dubs,” celebrating the team’s 10th win of the season. He and the rest of the Chiefs will have to get ready for their next game on short rest.
