One of the most well-known NFL media figures is Rich Eisen. He can get a lot of NFL players to appear on his show because of his connections in the league, and Chris Jones recently provided him with some of the most fascinating facts he hasn’t heard in a long time.
One of the best players in the NFL, Jones is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the most well-liked teams in the league. The Chiefs edge rusher trains with guys such as Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, so learning insider information from the locker room is always fascinating.
One of the more intriguing regulations the Chiefs bench boss has for his players was disclosed by Jones during his recent interview on The Rich Eisen Show. To be honest, the rule isn’t anything that fans would assume is significant to a coach.
When asked if he had ever had to reprimand a teammate for anything, Jones said that they typically “have talks” before going on to say that this is typically the case with rookies who are attempting to figure out the unwritten norms of the locker room.
“Usually younger guys trying to figure out how to do things, mostly just showing them the way, showing them how it’s usually done here… or a new guy coming on the team and not understanding how this organization operates,” Jones explained before revealing that Reid doesn’t allow players to wear black cleats in the locker room.
“We don’t wear black cleats. It’s simple, but this organization has these little things that we follow by that sometimes players don’t know,” Jones continued before being asked why the players aren’t allowed to sport black cleats in the locker room.
“Listen, I’m not sure. I’m freshly employed here! According to the three-time Super Bowl champion, “I don’t make the rules.” While he may not be permitted to wear black cleats in the locker room, it’s probably for good reason, as the Chiefs are off to a perfect 4-0 start and hope to make it 5-0 when they take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
