Joe Buck Calls Out Troy Aikman for Calling Taylor Swift ‘The Missus’ On-Air

Taylor Swift got police escort to London gigs after Austria terror plot

ESPN play-by-play commentator Joe Buck disagrees that cohost Troy Aikman ought to refer to it as what you desire.

Buck quickly called Aikman’s erroneous reference to Taylor Swift as “the missus” during their Monday NFL football call between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.

The hilarious social media discussion is captured on camera as Swift supports her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, during a play. Following the play in the football game’s second quarter, Aikman remarked, “The missus likes it.”

Aikman swiftly moved onward, talking about the play at hand and evaluating Kelce’s motions in it. But Buck, obviously unable to let it go, chimed in, “You know they’re not married?”

Aikman is hardly the only sports announcer to make the error. Tony Romo called Swift Kelce’s wife on the air multiple times last season before realizing his mistake.

“Oh, I know,” Aikman replied while laughing at himself. “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”

Buck didn’t rib his cohost too hard for the goof though. “It happens,” he told Aikman. “My daughters have warned me multiple times today: ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t make any jokes.'”

During a conference call before the Super Bowl earlier this year, Romo stressed that he was merely joking around, but that hasn’t prevented fans from approaching him with questions.

In the upcoming weeks, Swift’s gameday appearances—as well as inaccurate allusions to her marital status—are probably going to suffer. With the final leg of the Eras Tour starting in Miami next week and going to New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver in December, the 14-time Grammy winner is getting ready to go.
