Quarterback Brock Purdy appeared to be experiencing difficulty in his right shoulder while throwing several passes before to the start of 49ers practice on Thursday. Dustin Little, San Francisco’s head athletic trainer, was spotted massaging Purdy’s throwing shoulder. Then Purdy departed the field before practice began.
Purdy’s availability for the 49ers’ crucial Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers appears to be in doubt owing to the state of his right shoulder. If Purdy is unable to play, backup quarterback Brandon Allen will get the start.

Purdy participated in brief practice on Wednesday, but did not throw any passes during the warm-up periods, which reporters were permitted to view. When questioned about his level of concern, coach Kyle Shanahan said he was optimistic that Purdy will be ready to play against the Packers.
“Not much right now,” Shanahan replied. “We will see how the week goes. But he’s limited today, which I think is excellent news. Purdy has started all 10 of the 49ers’ games this season. He is completing 66 percent of his throw attempts, totaling 2,613 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He’s also rushed 51 times for 267 yards and four touchdowns, which leads the club. In 16 games last season, he carried for 144 yards on 39 attempts. Allen, 32, has made only nine starts in his NFL career. His last start came in the final week of the 2021 season, when he completed 15 of 29 ball attempts for 136 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in the Cincinnati Bengals’ 21-16 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Allen knocked out Joshua Dobbs for the backup spot to begin the regular season.
