Travis Kelce Retirement News Draws Strong Response from Chris Jones

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones have been two of the most important players throughout the recent dynasty.

The duo, along with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, has helped the Chiefs win three Super Bowls in the last six seasons and gave them a chance at winning five.

Kansas City couldn’t get it done this season, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Now, entering the offseason, Kelce, 35, is pondering retirement following his 11th year in the NFL.

Although Kelce hasn’t announced the decision himself, a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport indicates that he will return to the Chiefs for the 2025 season.

Per Rapoport, Chiefs GM Brett Veach said at the NFL Combine that Kelce is “fired up” about entering the final year of his contract.

“We left it as, he’d be back, and we’re excited to get him back and get him going,” Veach said.

Jones has been teammates with Kelce since 2016, before the Mahomes era began in Kansas City.

Since then, they have become close. Even their girlfriends, Sheawna Weathersby and Taylor Swift, have built a relationship, sending each other gifts during holidays.

Jones certainly seems excited about the idea of Kelce returning for one more season, reacting to the news with a post on X. “My dawg got to come back we got unfinished business,” Jones wrote on X.

Jones, 30, is signed with Kansas City through the 2028 season, so retirement might not be on his mind any time soon.

Kelce, on the other hand, likely thought about calling it quits but ultimately seems to want to give it another go and try to bring a fourth Lombardi back to Kansas City.
