Amidst the hoopla surrounding Blake Lively’s most recent film, “It Ends With Us,” Travis Kelce has Blake Lively’s back.
On the latest installment of his and Jason Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” the Kansas City Chiefs player, whose girlfriend Taylor Swift is one of Lively’s closest friends, complimented the actress for her “Gossip Girl” part.
“What is(or are) your guilty pleasure shows, something you’re slightly embarrassed to admit?” inquired 36-year-old Jason to start the conversation.
“I used to not tell everybody that I watched ‘Gossip Girl’ growing up,” 34-year-old Travis retorted.
In response to Jason’s jest that his younger brother “should be embarrassed about that,” Travis affirmed, “Dude, that’s really good though.”
Jason explained that he had never seen the show and even inquired as to whether Travis was referring to “Gilmore Girls.”
“If you watch [‘Gossip Girl,’] you can get in deep,” Travis continued. “Oh, my god. Chace Crawford. Blake Lively. Shoot me, but I forget the rest of the names of the cast.”
Travis called the teen drama, which ran on The CW for six seasons from 2007 to 2012, an “awesome” series.
“It’s a New York high school show with a lot of drama and basically everybody gossiping and talking s–t on each other,” Travis explained.
He and the former player for the Philadelphia Eagles concurred that none of the shows they adored truly made them feel ashamed.
Travis said, “I don’t give a damn. Dude, you can’t judge me. It is what it is, really.
Particularly since beginning his relationship with Swift last summer, the tight end has gotten close to Lively, 37.
The last time Travis and the “Shake It Off” singer visited Swift’s Rhode Island estate was with Lively and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds.
The August get-together, which also featured Gigi Hadid, Jason, and his spouse Kylie Kelce, was the initial instance in which Lively was observed within the criticism to “It Ends With Us.”
The movie’s commercial campaign, which was based on a book of the same name by Colleen Hoover and portrayed domestic abuse, caused outrage last month.
In addition to receiving backlash for pushing her haircare product during press appearances, Lively also faced criticism for urging moviegoers to dress in florals.
After that, internet users rediscover old interview snippets in which the blonde beauty is nasty to a reporter and frequently refers to transgender people as insults.
Furthermore, there were rumors that Lively and filmmaker Justin Baldoni were at odds, with sources telling Page Six that Lively felt “uncomfortable” around the “Jane the Virgin” alum.
We also learned via another insider that Lively and 40-year-old Baldoni were at odds over the film’s final cut, which debuted on August 9.
Lively re-shared an interview with the BBC in which she described her role in the movie as “she is not just a survivor, and she is not just a victim, and while those are huge things to be, those are not her identity,” as if in response to the criticism.
In the midst of the couple’s developing romance, Swift has been accompanied by the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” star to many of Travis’ NFL games.
