Tom Brady to quit FOX NFL analyst role after just one season, says insider

Tom Brady has come in for criticism during his first season as a FOX NFL analyst and is set to leave his role after just one year, according to one insider.

Former MLB executive David Samson has expressed his belief that Tom Brady’s obligations as the co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders may prevent him from rejoining FOX for a second season as an NFL analyst.

Prior to the 2024 season, the seven-time Super Bowl champion had signed an incredible $375 million contract to be the network’s main color commentator for the following ten years. But since going into broadcasting, the former quarterback for the New England Patriots has had conflicting reactions from viewers.

Due to his position with the Raiders, the 47-year-old is unable to attend in-person or virtual production meetings because of league regulations governing his posts on FOX.

Additionally, as a network analyst, Brady is prohibited from disparaging rival teams and game officials.

The retired football legend’s interests with the Raiders and his TV business will not be able to coexist next season, according to Samson, the former president of the Miami Marlins.

He said in an interview with “Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz”: “The NFL and FOX are aware that Tom Brady is currently leading that team, so something has to give.

“So enjoy Tom in the booth because you’re not going to see him there next year. He will be in the Raiders front office, he will not return as an analyst for FOX – you cannot be this involved in the operation of a team and be the No 1 analyst. It’s an absolute insult to analysts what he’s doing. And it’s an insult to team president what he’s doing.

“You end up doing both of them in a mediocre way… and I promise you he will choose the Raiders. Tom Brady will not be with FOX next season, he’ll be full time in the Raiders front office running that team. Period.”

With the recent announcement of Tom Telesco’s resignation as general manager, the Raiders have been sailing through a storm of upheaval. “The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Tom Telesco of his duties as General Manager, and we appreciate his efforts in helping to build a foundation for the future,” the team said in an official statement, acknowledging his services. We want the best for Tom and his family.

Additionally, the Raiders thanked head coach Antonio Pierce for his tenure and announced their departure: “The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Antonio Pierce of his duties as head coach. Antonio’s leadership, both as interim head coach and as head coach this past season, is greatly appreciated.
