Patrick Mahomes’ mum has spilled the beans on how her son’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce affectionately calls her “Mama Mahomes” at every encounter.
The NFL stars, who spearheaded their team to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in February, have not only excelled on the field but also share a tight-knit relationship off it, as evidenced by their celebratory antics in Las Vegas following their monumental win.
The bond extends beyond just the players, with their partners forming close ties too. This was highlighted when Patrick and Brittany Mahomes were spotted at Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert in Amsterdam with Kelce.
Adding to the family vibe within the Chiefs camp, Randi Mahomes recently told People that Kelce has given her the endearing nickname “Mama Mahomes”, which he uses “every time” they meet. She opened up about the familial atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium, expressing her fondness for the sense of community among the Chiefs players.
She said: “It feels almost like a little family, you know. I love that. I love meeting Chiefs players because you don’t always get to meet them all.”
The camaraderie within the team is palpable, extending from the players right up to the coaching staff, with head coach Andy Reid recently lavishing praise on Mahomes. At the 2024 ESPYs, while accepting the Best Athlete in Men’s Sports award on behalf of Mahomes, Reid expressed his admiration for the quarterback’s development.
He said: “Listen, I am honored to be here, to pick up this award for Patrick. I’ve been around this kid for two years now, and to watch him grow as a football player, as a teammate, as a leader has been phenomenal.”
