It’s no secret there’s still quite a bit of bad blood between pop star Taylor Swift and hip-hop star Kanye West.
Their issues date all the way back to the 2009 VMAs when West abruptly ruined Swift’s acceptance speech after she won the award for Best Female Video to make it known he believed Beyonce should have won the award instead.
Since that interaction, new wrinkles have popped up in the Swift-West feud over the years, and the latest chapter was written just this week when West took to social media to call out Swift by name for being one of the reasons he’s never been asked to perform a Super Bowl halftime show.
“I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of 3 moments,” West wrote in a since-deleted post on X.
“George Bush don’t care about black people. The Taylor Swift movement moment. Wearing a MAGA hat. How it feel to be the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time. (And I mean all of this before I went full [expletive] of course).”
Things escalated on Wednesday night when West went on a social media tirade where he accused Swift, the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, of engaging in explicit acts with two prominent celebrities, which prompted the “Blank Space” singer to send a cease and desist order, according to the Daily Mail.
“This time he has gone too far,” a source told the Daily Mail. “His claims are not just false they are defamatory.
This isn’t just [West] gossiping. This is [West] sexually harassing a woman, defaming her and intending to cause harm to her and to her career.”
The report indicates that Swift felt taking legal action was a last but necessary resort because of the frequency of West’s public personal attacks.
Given how Swift has ingratiated herself with the Chiefs fanbase and the NFL community as a whole, it’s unlikely West will be invited to participate in any league-hosted events anytime soon.
