Social media users have praised Taylor Swift after she defended a fan during a recent visit to a children’s hospital.
Earlier this month, ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker Taylor Swift’s mammoth 149-show Eras Tour finally came to an end in Vancouver, British Columbia.
But, instead of taking a well-earned break following its conclusion, the 35-year-old decided to spread some festive cheer by paying a surprise visit to Kansas City’s Children’s Mercy Hospital. Last Thursday (December 12) the singer-songwriter spent some time with the patients and their families.
During the hospital visit, Swift asked one young girl what she wanted for Christmas, to which she replied that she wanted a ‘Dyson Airwrap’.
Afterwards, it was revealed that Swift sent the patient the $600 hair tool accompanied with a note reading: “In case Santa doesn’t come through.”
But the visit didn’t go off without a hitch, with the ‘All Too Well’ hitmaker getting involved in an awkward confrontation with one of her team members. In a moment that was caught on camera, Swift can be seen exiting the hospital ward alongside her security team and other staff, when a fan filming the them calls out: “Thank you for coming.”
The star smiles and waves at the fan but one of her team members doesn’t appear to be too happy and starts to yell at the fan. “You’re not supposed to be filming,” she says.
But Swift quickly comes to the fan’s defense, turning the woman away from the fan and saying: “It’s OK, it’s OK.”
After KCTV5 Anchor Sharon Chen posted the video online, it quickly went viral, with many social media users praising Swift for how she dealt with the awkward situation. “We do NOT deserve her at all. Not in the slightest. Not even a little bit. Not even at all,” one Twitter used gushed.
Another wrote: “The way she grabbed that lady by both arms to shut her up. Tay said no being rude on my watch.” And a third called the singer ‘the cutest’.
Swift has also been praised recently after People reported that she’d dished out $197 million in bonuses to her Eras Tour staff. During her final show on December 8, Swift told the crowd: “We have toured the entire world.
“We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. “…I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date – my beloved Eras Tour.”
