The 2024 presidential election continues to inch closer and closer. At this point, we’re a little more than six months away from the big day.

Many in the political world are anxiously awaiting comment from Taylor Swift. The biggest pop star in the world has spoken out ahead of previous elections, though so far in 2024, she’s yet to give an official endorsement.

Previously, Swift spoke out about an election in her home state of Tennessee. However, the decision to speak out was not one that Swift’s dad agreed with. Swift’s dad was “terrified” for his daughter as she spoke out. “I’ve read the entire [statement] and … right now, I’m terrified.”

“I’m the guy that went out and bought armored cars,” Scott Swift told his daughter in 2018. Taylor Swift, meanwhile, went through with the statement anyway, endorsing two Democratic candidates in Tennessee.

However, she understood where her dad was coming from. “This was a situation where, from a humanity perspective, and from what my moral compass was telling me I needed to do, I knew was right, and I really didn’t care about repercussions,” she told Variety.

“My dad is terrified of threats against my safety and my life, and he has to see how many stalkers we deal with on a daily basis, and know that this is his kid. It’s where he comes from.”

Time will tell if Taylor Swift makes a similar decision ahead of the 2024 election.
