The Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 29–10 on Christmas Day, demonstrating their continued momentum.
Kansas City improved to 15-1 on the season with the Chiefs’ sixth consecutive victory in Week 17.
After the game against the Steelers on Christmas Day, Mahomes shared a highlight from the NFL when he made a third-and-long pass to running back Samaje Perine.
Mahomes sent the ball to Perine when he was fumbling in the pocket, directly over Steelers linebacker Payton Wilson. On the third-down play, Perine swooped down to collect the pass and convert.
On social media, the Chiefs quarterback shared a lighthearted message with his buddy, making sure to give Perine credit for the catch.
Mahomes wrote, “Good play,” along with three laughing emojis.
Mahomes completed 29 of 38 pass attempts and finished the game with three touchdowns and 320 yards, one of his greatest performances of the season.
In contrast, Perine gained 20 yards on two receptions and finished the game with nine yards on two carries.
Mahomes and Perine helped the Chiefs secure the top seed in the AFC playoff picture with the victory over the Steelers.
In Week 18, Kansas City will play their last regular-season game against the Denver Broncos.
The Chiefs have a 63.4% chance of defeating the Broncos and extending their winning streak to seven games, according to ESPN’s Matchup Predictor.
