Despite having a 3-0 record, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t exactly shown that they are the best team in the league through the first two weeks of play, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t looked like the top player either.
Mahomes has lost his position as the favorite to win the title after being the betting favorite to win his third NFL MVP award through the first few weeks of the season. His current odds are +300, which is slightly less than DraftKings Sportsbook’s +200 odds for the newest MVP favorite, Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. This information is sourced from the New York Post.
In the Monday Night Football matchup with the faltering Jacksonville Jaguars, Allen completed more than 76 percent of his throws on route to 263 yards and four touchdowns. This season, he has not yet thrown an interception.
Most importantly, despite losing Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs this past offseason, Allen has the Bills out to a 3-0 start. Diggs’ departure swiftly disproved the long-held belief that the Bills would lose a step, if not their entire offensive potency.
It is understandable why the majority of sports bookies and computer models have selected the Bills as the overwhelming favorites to win Super Bowl LIX.
Perhaps in 2024, after the Bills have had several postseason setbacks, Allen will finally make his breakthrough and win his long-awaited first Super Bowl.
Is Josh Allen going to be this year’s NFL MVP? Will he ultimately reach a Super Bowl?
