Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs still hold the best record in the AFC following a 30-27 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 12.
Panthers quarterback Bryce Young continued his impressive stretch with an 11-point comeback in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 27 apiece with under two minutes remaining. But Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes did what he does best, setting up a game-winning field goal on the final drive to steal the win.
Before the game, Kelce flexed an outfit many people considered was inspired by his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who was absent in Charlotte. But, there was one particular portion of his ensemble that was definitely inspired by an NBA legend.
Kelce rocked the shoes of former Detroit Pistons guard Richard “Rip” Hamilton, the Air Jordan 12 PEs.
The tight end revealed to Hamilton in a text message on Sunday morning that he would be donning the shoes at Bank of America Stadium.
Following Kansas City’s win over Carolina, Hamilton took to Instagram to share Kelce’s text message to him from earlier in the day.

“RIP!” Kelce texted. “Had to rock some 12s to our week 12 game down here in Carolina! Hope all is good your way man.”
Kelce also shared his reaction to the post with a comment toward the former UConn Huskies basketball star.
“Rip!! Your PE’s go crazy!!” Kelce wrote with two fire emojis.
Hamilton spent nine seasons with the Pistons from 2002-2011. He was an integral part of Detroit’s 2004 NBA championship team, where they defeated Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. Hamilton made three NBA All-Star appearances during his Pistons tenure and had his No. 32 jersey retired by the organization.
