Jayson Tatum’s Admission to Travis Kelce is Turning Heads

The Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to six games after beating the Sacramento Kings, 113-95, on Monday despite losing main man Jayson Tatum in the third quarter due to an ankle injury.

After the game, Tatum said he was okay, an indication that he won’t be out for an extended period. As of writing, he’s listed as doubtful for their game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

He, however, didn’t leave any doubt when he was asked on the “New Heights” podcast of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce if an NFL player could play in the NBA. “I would venture to say no, from both standpoints,” said Tatum.

“The guys that get on TV and be like, ‘You could just take this guy from the NBA and throw him in a (NFL) game this Sunday.’ No, it does not work like that.”

He noted that it would need at least a year of training for an NBA player to make an impact in the NFL and vice versa. Travis Kelce, who played basketball at Cleveland Heights High School in Ohio, was candid with his response.

“Don’t crush my dreams,” said the Chiefs veteran. “I’m 35 and I still got hoop dreams.” But the 27-year-old Tatum had a savage retort. “Listen, I have so much respect for you guys and what you guys do, (but) there’s nothing funnier than watching football guys play basketball,” said the six-time All-Star with a smile.

Fans couldn’t help but immediately chime in. “Wait JT is actually really funny ,” said a fan. “NFL players are shorter than NBA players, I think that would be a large hurdle,” added another fan.

“The only one I’d give the puncher’s chance in the NFL to NBA argument is Myles Garrett playing the 3 and/or undersized 4,” wrote a follower. “Poor Trav hoop dreams are dead. Maybe hockey?” asked a fan.

“Charlie Ward did a great job going from football to NBA basketball,” commented another fan. For what it’s worth, Travis Kelce has three NFL titles compared to Tatum’s one NBA crown. Safe to assume, he’s in the right profession. Plus, at least Taylor Swift’s fans wouldn’t have to learn an entirely different sport.
