Taylor Swift missed Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce‘s breakout game against the Las Vegas Raiders last week, as she was performing her Eras concert tour in New Orleans that same night.
Kelce, who recorded 10 receptions for 90 yards and his first touchdown of the season during the Chiefs 27-20 win over Las Vegas, will look to build on that momentum when the Chiefs host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9.
The Buccaneers-Chiefs game is scheduled in the primetime “Monday Night Football” slot, which means there’s a chance Swift could return to Arrowhead Stadium to cheer for her boyfriend in person on Nov. 4. The 34-year-old pop star has three shows in Indianapolis between Nov. 1 and Nov. 3, and could jet over to Kansas City when she’s done.
Joe Hogsett, the mayor of Indianapolis, however, is focused on Swift’s upcoming shows, and could not be more thrilled for her tour to pass through.
Two days before the “Karma” singer’s first performance at Lucas Oil Stadium, Hogsett shared a historic announcement about Swift.
In honor of the upcoming three nights of Taylor Swift’s #ErasTour at @LucasOilStadium and the expected nine-figure economic impact it will bring to our city, I’m pleased to proclaim the first weekend of November, 2024 as ‘Taylor Swift Weekend’ in the City of Indianapolis. pic.twitter.com/pYOgmCTyXY

With Swift’s tour expected to bring the city of Indianapolis a nine-figure tourism boost, Hogsett officially named the first weekend of November, “Taylor Swift Weekend.” He wrote in the proclamation, “An estimated 4.35 million Taylor Swift lovers attended the Eras tour in 2023 alone, giving the tour a reputation for generating as much economic investment in the respective host city as the Super Bowl.”
During Swift’s three nights of shows in New Orleans, the city raked in over $500,000 million for the metro area. Based on Hogsett’s announcement, Swift is expected to double that number.
Throughout the letter, Hogsett emulated Swift in sending a secret message to fans with by capitalizing letters that spell out, “Welcome to Indianapolis.”
