From start to finish, Sunday’s heavyweight AFC showdown between Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs delivered several memorable moments that still have NFL fans buzzing into the start of Week 12. The drama started with the national anthem before the game began.
CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz confidently declared Josh Allen’s bruising fourth-quarter touchdown run “the play of the year.” Allen had his own comments after ruining Kansas City’s unbeaten record.
None of those talking points grabbed Fox Sports host Nick Wright’s attention as much as the parting gesture from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in the closing moments of his team’s first loss of the season.
Kelce was caught briefly by the NFL on CBS cameras clapping after Mahomes short-armed his tight end for a game-sealing interception.
Travis Kelce with the postgame clap. He knows the real test comes in January. Allen is 4-1 vs Mahomes in the regular season, Mahomes is 3-0 vs Allen in the playoffs. #ChiefsKingdom @KCTV5 pic.twitter.com/hlqwA6SqmJ

The 34-year-old tight end had one of his worst games of his career, finishing with two catches for eight yards. On the bright side for Kelce, his girlfriend Taylor Swift wasn’t there to see the debacle in person.
There was no confirmation whether the Kansas City star was clapping to encourage his teammates or to show respect to the Bills, but Wright made his opinion on Kelce’s gesture extremely clear.
“Four years in a row, the team from upstate New York has won its Super Bowl,” Wright said Monday on “First Things First,” suggesting the win meant more to the Bills than the Chiefs. “Kelce thought it deserved applause and so do I.”
He then mockingly revealed a banner in the studio with a Buffalo Bills logo that said “4 straight Super Bowl wins.” Wright’s point was clear.

Josh Allen may have won four straight regular season matchups with Mahomes, but the Chiefs show up when the ultimate prize is on the line. Mahomes is 3-0 against Allen in the NFL playoffs, and Buffalo fans were forced to watch him raise the Lombardi Trophy after ending their season twice in that time span.

Wright was genuinely impressed by the Bills’ win and named them as title contenders. But to him, Kelce’s clapping gesture was a reminder that no matter how many games they win or lose, the back-to-back Super Bowl champs are still the AFC’s team to beat come playoff time.
