Ed Kelce Gave His Sons A Powerful Warning When They Were In High School

In an interesting reversal, Kelce family patriarch Ed Kelce has taken after his sons Travis and Jason to start his own podcast, “Stories With Papa.” For his debut episode, he recalled a strict warning he once gave his NFL sons.

Ed said that he once took his sons to the steel mill that he worked as a sales rep in order to show them what hard work meant.

He showed them that they could either commit themselves to education and get a job like their mother, or work long hours in the mill. “’Look around. You can do this for the rest of your life or follow in your mom’s footsteps,'” he said.

Ed said that he warned that if they didn’t make the most of their education, he’d put them to work and “buy you both a pair of steel-toed boots.”

“You’ll make the most of this education, or I’ll buy you both a pair of steel-toed boots.” The message clearly resonated as both Kelce boys got their scholarships to the University of Cincinnati and went on to become top-flight NFL Draft picks, elite players and Super Bowl champions.

There’s a good chance that both of them will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio one day as well. To this day the Kelce brothers recall how strict their father was.
