Donna Kelce gave Page Six an explanation for her belief that Taylor Swift is the ideal partner for her son Travis Kelce.
Donna exclusively revealed to us that she finds the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s high-profile connection with pop sensation “kind of interesting” when we met up with her at the film’s New York City premiere on Monday.
“He’s a good guy. He really is. He’s good,” she gushed. “He’s kind. He’s generous. And from what I understand, so is she.”
Donna made sure to add of the couple, “I hope they’re having a good time.”
She said, “Oh, it’s so awesome,” in response to our question about how happy she is of Travis for his involvement with Ryan Murphy’s ten-episode drama series for FX. just to watch your children engage in their passion, and if this is something he enjoys! We’ll see how it goes because I know he wanted to try acting.
The 71-year-old, who is also the mother of retired center Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles, said she “always told” her two kids that “if you do something you love to do, you will get really good at it.
Although she said it’s too soon to say if 34-year-old Travis “loves to do it,” she did point out that he’s “very coachable because he is in sports.
The Kelce guys started the hugely popular podcast “New Heights” and have won four Super Bowls together in the past few years. When Travis started dating Swift, who is 34 as well, last year, their rockstar status reached that level.
Everything changed when “both teams got good enough to play each other in the Super Bowl,” according to Donna, who called it all “a whirlwind.”
In Super Bowl LVII, which was played in Glendale, Arizona, in February 2023, Travis and his Chiefs defeated 36-year-old Jason and his Eagles 38 to 35.
“It’s just been taking off,” Donna told us of her sons’ multifaceted careers, adding, “I just can’t believe what’s happened over the last couple years.”
Swift has supported Travis at multiple games since last fall, frequently even sitting with Donna and her husband, Ed Kelce, even if she was not present for the team’s most recent game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, in which the former defeated the latter 22 to 17.
During the Chiefs’ victory against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this month in the season opener, Donna honored both Travis and Swift with a personalized baseball cap adorned with white cosmic and holly sprigs. The flowers, particularly, are tied to the football player and the musician’s respective October and December birth months. “Grotesquerie” launches Wednesday on FX and the next day on Hulu.
