Chiefs Should have this Elite Weapon Targeted for Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to make some moves this offseason to put themselves in better position to get back to winning the Super Bowl in 2025.

After being blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl a month ago, the Chiefs clearly have more work to do. There will be significant free-agent losses, but adding to the offense could be of interest.

Kansas City has one of the best quarterbacks of all-time in Patrick Mahomes. While they have had good offenses over the last couple of years, they have not had the best weapons for him to work with.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Chiefs would have Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy as their top wide receivers. Travis Kelce seems likely to be back as well.

They could look to add another weapon for Mahomes this offseason. How about Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp?

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter earlier on Monday, the Rams are planning to release Kupp after the start of the new league year if they can’t find a trade for him.

In this scenario, Kansas City would wait for Los Angeles to release Kupp and then pursue him.

That is exactly what they should do.

Kupp would be a perfect addition for the Chiefs’ offense. He has had a few straight years with injury issues, but he has still produced at a solid level when he has been on the field.

During the 2024 season with the Rams, Kupp played in 12 games. He caught 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns. Those are more than serviceable numbers.

Playing with a quarterback like Mahomes could help him get back to being a 1,000-yard wideout. His presence and ability to run elite routes could be lethal with Kansas City.

It’s possible that the Chiefs will have no interest in signing Kupp. However, it would be a wise decision for them to pursue him if he ends up hitting free agency.
