The Kansas City Chiefs have used the last couple of days to digest the loss in Super Bowl LIV. They weren’t able to capture the NFL’s first-ever 3-peat and have turned the page over to the offseason.
They will use the next couple of months to retool the roster and make another run at a Super Bowl. One of the biggest question marks that’s been a talking point is the future of tight end Travis Kelce. There have been rumors that Kelce will walk away this offseason.
NFL insider James Palmer revealed that he’s hearing that Kelce will retire but defensive end Charles Omenihu made a pitch to Kelce on Fox Sports “The Facility”.
Omenihu said, “We can’t go out like that.”

Charles Omenihu Pitches for Travis Kelce To Return in 2025
Omenihu went on to say, “I think Trav has a lot left. I think Trav is an extreme competitor. I think he’s somebody that loves the game. And I think in the storied career that he’s had, going out like that, in my opinion, wouldn’t be something that he would do… so I believe he’ll be back. I believe that he’ll give it one more go.”
This news around Kelce’s future is one of the biggest dominoes around the offseason for the Chiefs. The 10-time Pro Bowler took a step back this season. He didn’t have the same speed and burst that he’s had throughout his career.
He posted career lows in receiving yards (823) and receiving touchdowns (3). He failed to post more than 39 yards in the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl.
Regardless of looking a step slower, Omenihu wants the future Hall-of-Famer back in the fold for 2025. He added that Rashee Rice will be back in 2025, which will help the offense.
That’s a good point. The duo of Xavier Worthy and Rice on the field would open things up for Kelce. They also have Patrick Mahomes under center and you always have a chance to win with him as the starter.
Kelce already said he’ll take some time before making a decision, but it’s clear his teammates want him back.
