Fans have dubbed Brittany Mahomes a Taylor Swift impersonator due to her attire during the Kansas City Chiefs’ game on September 22. Attending the game, which saw the Chiefs defeat the Atlanta Falcons with a commanding score of 22-17, Brittany wore an outfit strikingly similar to the one Swift had on a week prior. Brittany reached into the back of her closet and pulled out a pair of scarlet cowboy boots. She wore them with black shorts and an oversized, glitzy Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt. Brittany’s red and black chain-link purse, which she proudly showed off in her Instagram pictures, completed the ensemble.
Though it might not be the most ostentatious day game ensemble that Brittany has worn to date, hers lacked the striking quality of Swift’s a week prior. As per InStyle, the singer attended the Chiefs’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 15th dressed in a red Chiefs jersey. Her black boots had enough of room to shine thanks to the short, flowing shirt that fell at the top of her thighs. They were the true winners of this lanky appearance, after all. Another style choice Swift made that Brittany, who wore her hair in two fishtail birds a week later, didn’t mind was wearing it down in long, loose curls. Swift’s black pocketbook, with its slender strap, was the other.
In any case, social media is discussing Brittany’s moment of style-jacking.
Fans are still not happy with Brittany Mahomes despite the fact that her recent errors pale in contrast to her wardrobe jacking controversy among the football community. Fans of Taylor Swift are criticizing her for allegedly taking the style limelight away from her in the comments section of her Instagram image.
“Looks like an outfit Taylor would wear…Seems to be copying Taylor…,” wrote one fan, garnering nearly 200 likes. “Copying Taylor Swift’s outfit from last week,” commented a second fan. A third fan commented, “She copied Taylor’s outfit from last week. Go every other team other than the chiefs! Specifically the Steelers!” Of course, the backlash didn’t end there.
Another fan suggested that Brittany’s copycat look was serious enough to warrant legal action against her. “Copying Taylor’s fit. She needs a restraining order,” they wrote. “Trying so hard to be like Taylor! That was her look last week! If you are going to copy her then…LET’S GO HARRIS!!!” wrote another, referring to Swift’s decision to endorse Kamala Harris for president, which fans think will be a sore point between the singer and Brittany, who seemingly supports Trump. Meanwhile, another simply feels that the look has already been done. “This is sooo last week. Copying Taylor again,” they wrote.
For better or worse, Brittany Mahomes caused quite a stir with her Taylor Swift-inspired gameday ensemble. However, her influence would have likely been amplified had the music sensation been present at the September 22 game. TMZ claims that Swift went out the night before with her friend, the model Gigi Hadid. However, it’s also likely that Brittany decided to leave her imprint at a time when she wouldn’t have to contend with Swift’s spotlight because she knew the singer wouldn’t be at the game. Sadly, Brittany’s timing has undoubtedly come back to haunt her.
But when it comes to Swift, that might not be the most important issue for Brittany. Fans aren’t sure that Swift and the long-time friend are as close as they once were or whether their friendship can survive the public scrutiny that comes with having two different political philosophies, despite the fact that they have openly interacted since Swift endorsed Kamala Harris. Even worse, some Chiefs supporters believe that the potential rift between the two buddies has spread throughout the team and is genuinely hurting the other halves of the women, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. On X, formerly known as Twitter, a fan posted, “I can’t prove it, but I’m pretty sure Brittany Mahomes told Patrick to not throw it to Travis Kelce since Taylor endorsed Kamala.”
Naturally, that’s a grave charge to level at someone who isn’t in the inner circle. In addition, Patrick recently stated that, in spite of Kelce’s slow start to the season, he was trying to throw the ball to him more.According to NBC Sports, Mahomes stated, “I’m going to try to do my best to keep feeding him the ball whenever he’s there, whenever he’s open.”
