Arriving at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Chiefs’ game against the Falcons, tight end Travis Kelce dressed to impress in an oversized black jacket and tie. A white dress shirt, shades, and bright red sneakers completed Kelce’s ensemble, which he had just entered the team bus wearing black slip-ons.
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback, looked sharp with a baby blue tie and a navy pinstriped suit. Following victories over the Bengals and Ravens, Kelce and the Chiefs aim to get to 3-0. Although it hasn’t been a vintage start for the future Hall of Famer despite his team’s success, the tight end has had girlfriend Taylor Swift cheer him on at both of his games thus far.
Kelce has only made four catches for 39 yards in two games this year, a sharp down from his career average of 70.6 yards per game. In his one previous game at Atlanta, in 2016, Kelce crushed the Falcons for 140 receiving yards; he will be looking to duplicate that performance on Sunday.
It seems Taylor Swift will not be attending this Chiefs game due to the unavailability of a VIP box for her and her friends. She went to dinner on Saturday night in New York with her close friend Gigi Hadid, but since her schedule is public knowledge, many people still anticipate that she will be traveling to Atlanta.
Regardless of whether she travels or not, some fans thought Kelce’s Atlanta attire was an homage to the musical sensation. He was spotted on Saturday stepping off the plane wearing an eye-catching all-black outfit, and some ‘Swifties’ speculated he was making a reference to his girlfriend’s album Reputation from 2017.
Kelce held a black bag in his right hand and was dressed in black slacks, black slip-on sandals, and a black t-shirt with a blazer over it. Swift wears her own all-black outfit during the Reputation ‘Era’ of her sold-out global tour, which Kelce has frequently attended. In the comments section on the Chiefs’ post, one fan wrote: ‘Big reputation,’ while another added: ‘Who’s afraid of little old Travvy… you should be’, referencing some Swift lyrics.
On Sunday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid is expected to make a daring lineup change to provide Mahomes with extra cover on his blindside. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that second-year offensive lineman Wanya Morris will start the game at left tackle instead of Kingsley Suamataia, a second-round rookie who will sit on the sidelines.
After being selected with the 63rd pick overall out of BYU, Suamataia showed enough during training camp to be given the starting job in Week 1. Reid is obviously trying to get Mahomes more comfortable because he has thrown three interceptions and taken four sacks in the first two games.
