There’s no denying that Taylor Swift has some of the most passionate fans in the world. To a certain extent, the same can be said of Beyonce supporters, who like the Swifties, can also get quite protective of their idol.
Every so often, these two fanbases collide. This was exactly the case after a statement from award-winning journalist and New York Times best-selling author Paula Froelich grabbed attention online.
During a recent episode of NewsNation’s “Morning in America,” Froelich shared her two cents on how Beyonce’s concert tour for her “Cowboy Carter” album is supposedly struggling to sell out its shows.
“When (‘Cowboy Carter’) premiered, it did hit number one for two weeks, but then the numbers cratered,” Froelich said. “And it sold 460,000-470,000 copies. However, compared to something like the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ that sold 2.6 million on its debut, (‘Cowboy Carter’) just kinda cratered. It was a miscalculation to call for a tour.”
Froelich went on to say that Beyonce’s fans are “economically exhausted,” pointing to the fact that the R&B icon just went on tour two years ago.
Froelich’s decision to put Beyonce and Swift side by side did not go unnoticed. It sparked a debate among fans on social media. Swifties were quick to jump on the bandwagon to make their feelings about Beyonce known.
Taylor Swift was mentioned on Morning America today:

“Omgosh Thehive live in their own reality, believing she’s bigger than Taylor (No active artist today is bigger than Taylor). Her fanbase is so delusional, like always, it’s hilarious,” a comment on X read.
“That clip is brutal, but they’re not lying. They can’t manufacture demand for a Cowboy Carter tour the way they manufactured award buzz. Right now, you can buy Verified Resale Tickets for LESS than face value to most shows, including Opening Night,” claimed a Swift supporter.
“‘Economically exhausted’ sjjsjsjj Bey fans just got called jobless and broke on national television,” another wrote.
Beyonce fans weren’t going to take this sitting down, though. A number of them ended up taking out their frustration on both the news show and on the Swifties.
“This is embarrassing to the network….. Taylor is nowhere near Beyoncé first of all and secondly keep the stantwt staff on stantwt,” a Beyonce fan claimed.
“STUPID SWIFTIE PEOPLE !!!” another reacted.
“(Beyonce) is that girl the problem was ppl were complaining about the price. But she can do that when she puts on a spectacular show beyond budget and nothin cheap and basic like your fav. Regardless of when it sells out it will sell out. Most ppl wait until it’s closer to the date,” a comment read.
Whatever the case might be, the fact of the matter is that Swift now holds the record for the highest-grossing concert series after her 149-show “Eras Tour” generated over a billion dollars in ticket sales.
Beyonce is considered one of the greatest artists of her generation, but it remains to be seen if she will be able to match Swift’s historic feat.
