Bill Belichick Gets Candid on His Opinion of Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are eyeing the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat. However, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills stand in the way as they come to Arrowhead Stadium for the AFC Championship Game.

After a 15-2 season, the Chiefs were able to earn the AFC’s No. 1 seed and a playoff bye. They also decided to rest their starters, including Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, in Week 18, giving them a few weeks of rest before the Divisional Round.

Kansas City made light work of the Houston Texans in round two, securing a 23-14 win. After seeing his production dip in the regular season, Kelce returned to his normal self against Houston, tallying seven catches for a season-high 117 yards and one touchdown.

Ahead of the conference championships, Former New England Patriots turned North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick appeared on a recent episode of “Inside the NFL.” Alongside Ryan Clark, Chad Johnson and Chris Long, the four discussed the upcoming conference championship games.

When Belichick opened up his segment called “The Game Plan,” the six-time Super Bowl winner shared his strong opinion of Kelce. “[The Bills are] going to have to stop Travis Kelce,” Belichick said. “That’ll be a big challenge for them. I tried to do that for the better part of a decade. It’s not easy.”

Belichick went on to to discuss Kelce’s redzone ability.

“First of all, [he’s] a guy that’s really hard to stop anywhere on the field, particularly in the red area,” Belichick added.

“The number one thing with him is, you have to find him and cover him. He does a great job of getting into open spaces, and when the defenders look back for the ball, especially in zone defense, he just uncovers, and Mahomes hits him. This guy is such a threat in the red area you just have to know where he is.”

Belichick would know a good tight end when he sees one. For nine seasons, he coached Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski, winning three Super Bowls together.
