Another Famous Athlete Who Left Kayla Nicole for a Singer

Hearing about an ex moving on after a breakup isn’t the most pleasant thing for anyone, but even more so when the whole world is watching.

That’s exactly what Travis Kelce‘s ex Kayla Nicole went through when the Kansas City Chiefs star started dating Taylor Swift. However, that wasn’t the first time Nicole experienced a breakup with an athlete who went on to date a popular singer. The model admitted that happened to her before and not only that but it was done via text message. Ouch!

During an episode of Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast in October, Nicole opened up about her past relationships and how one of her exes dumped her for another woman and ended things via text.

When the Chicago Sky star asked Nicole what’s “the pettiest thing” she’s done in a relationship, the model responded: “I was dating a guy, and he dumped me through a text message, and he dumped me for this singer/actress who was famous at the time. Dumped me for her. Lied about it for months, then popped out with her and became this public thing.”

Nicole added that she was “devastated” by their split especially since she moved to New York to be close to him.

While she didn’t mention the ex-boyfriend by name, fans knew right away that she was talking about former NBA player Iman Shumpert when she said: “I dressed up as her. I dressed up as that lady for Halloween” and that “viral” pictures were still out there on the internet.

Shumpert left Nicole for Teyana Taylor and Nicole dressed up the way Taylor had in Kanye West’s “Fade” music video.

Shortly after Nicole’s admission, Teyana Taylor commented on Instagram with a lengthy response writing in part: “F*** the Iman part, l’m divorced and happily so, however her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for. She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said she ‘was famous at the time’ … it was very distasteful & uncalled for. Most importantly she knew people would dig. So automatically my name is attached to the nonsense.”

Shumpert and Taylor were married from 2016 to 2023.
