The Chicago Sky are on the road Thursday to face the No. 1 ranked team in the WNBA, the New York Liberty. Before their primetime matchup, rookie Angel Reese spoke on her former teammate Flau’jae Johnson, who will perform at the ESPYs on July 11.
Johnson and Reese played two seasons together with the LSU Tigers. They secured a National Title side-by-side in 2023. While the 5-foot-10 guard has been one of the best players for the Tigers during her collegiate career, she’s also known as an extremely talented rapper.
The 20-year-old will perform live at the ESPYs, and Reese showed full confidence in her former teammate, saying, “She doesn’t fumble.”
“Obviously, that’s a dream come true for her, for sure. She’s done so many great things. Being able to still see her thrive and excel; I remember we were there last years together… She doesn’t fumble. Pressure makes diamond is something she always says, so I know she’s going to be great tonight, and I want to wish her good luck,” Reese said.
Reese and Johnson were two of the biggest names in college basketball, cementing themselves as some of the highest NIL earners in the women’s basketball world.

The Sky rookie had an NIL valuation of $1.8 million during her senior season with the Tigers, while Johnson boasted a $1.2 million valuation in 2024.
The first-year WNBA star described this opportunity for Johnson as a dream come true, so it’s incredible to see the young athlete accomplish a major goal.
