Just a few days ago, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany welcomed their third baby, Golden Raye Mahomes.
During this Tuesday’s media availability, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid offered some parenting advice to Mahomes. Reid and his longtime wife Tammy had five children together.
Unfortunately, they lost their oldest child, Garrett, in 2012 due to an overdose. Although they’ve been through their fair share of heartbreak, Reid believes the Mahomes family would benefit from having a few more children. “Yeah, I think he does great with it. He came in as Patrick 2PM, now he’s Patrick 3PM,” Reid said.
“Once you have three, four and five are easy. That’s what I told him. You made three, add a couple more, we’ll talk.”
This was supposed to be a funny remark from Reid, but it clearly didn’t sit well with the NFL community. Countless fans ripped the three-time Super Bowl champion.

“Brb gonna get financial advice from Bernie Madoff now,” one fan replied. Another fan said, “I probably wouldn’t take parenting advice from Andy Reid.” “Great coach… but not sure he should talk about how easy parenting is,” a third fan commented.
“He’s right. Raising 5 kids is easy. Raising 5 kids that aren’t felons for nearly killing a young child while driving drunk is really hard,” a social media user wrote.
Most of the responses are in reference to Britt Reid’s car accident that stems back to 2021. The former assistant coach for the Chiefs struck two vehicles with his pickup truck just a few days before the Super Bowl.
His actions seriously injured a 5-year-old girl. The police stated that Reid had a blood alcohol level of 0.113 percent two hours after the crash occurred. In November of 2022, Reid pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
He was then sentenced to three years in prison. In the early stages of 2024, his remaining sentence was converted to house arrest.
Reid isn’t exactly itching to see what people say about him on social media, so he might not be aware of all the backlash he’s receiving.
Besides, Reid is currently focused on leading the Kansas City Chiefs back to the Super Bowl. First up is a showdown with the Houston Texans this Saturday. The Chiefs are trying to become the first NFL team to ever win the Super Bowl three straight times.
